Hi friends, and welcome to the Lane Brooks Homes blog. We’re Taylor and Daniel Malsch — the husband-and-wife team behind the tools, the design boards, and the business.

Lane Brooks Homes is more than just a home improvement company — it’s the result of a shared dream, years of hands-on learning, and a deep love for turning houses into meaningful, functional, beautiful homes. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, we offer full-service home improvement, custom carpentry, and thoughtful design — always rooted in craftsmanship, family values, and genuine connection with our clients.

A Little Bit About Us

Our story started long before we ever had a business name. Daniel learned the trade from Taylor’s father, who’s owned a successful home improvement company for over 40 years. From the start of our relationship, weekend projects and late-night renovation plans became part of our rhythm. We’ve always found joy in building and creating together — whether that meant refinishing old furniture, designing a custom closet, or taking on full renovations room by room.

As our own family grew, so did our vision. We wanted to build a business that allowed us to work together, serve our community, and create a life that aligned with our values: family, simplicity, and hard work. We officially launched Lane Brooks Homes with just a few tools, a lot of grit, and big dreams — and we haven’t looked back since. Named after our first two children, whose middle names are Lane and Brooks. They were the inspiration behind the dream. (We now have a third baby, who unfortunately wasn’t around yet to make it into the name — but we like to think he’s the heart behind everything we do now.)

When you hire Lane Brooks Homes, you’re not getting a big crew of strangers cycling through your home. You’re working directly with us. Daniel personally handles all estimates, manages every step of the work, and is the one showing up on site to get the job done — with skill, care, and consistency. Taylor steps in on the design and client experience side, helping turn ideas into a cohesive vision and a finished space that actually feels like home.

Because we’re a small, family-run business, we’re able to offer a personal, one-on-one experience. We don’t rush jobs. We don’t cut corners. We treat your home like it’s our own — and we mean that.

We believe that quality work and genuine relationships are what truly build trust in this industry. Most of our clients come from word-of-mouth, and many of them have become friends. That’s what matters most to us.
